Manufactured stone, EIFS & stucco are extremely popular home exterior coverings.  Despite their considerable durability hairline cracks will form, most frequently in the mortar joints.  These cracks are especially common in parts of the country that experience frequent freeze/thaw weather patterns.  These hairline cracks allow wind-driven rain to penetrate the mortar and collect within the interior wall.  Once the moisture gets in it has nowhere to go thus creating the perfect environment for toxic mold growth.

Mortairvent® is a two-ply mortar deflection and ventilation system that had been specifically designed for use with manufactured stone, stucco, EIFS and brick. By installing the Mortairvent® two-ply system, a ventilation cavity is created between the vapor barrier and exterior wall.  The blue polymer core mesh creates the airspace, while the filter fabric blocks mortar droppings from seeping into this newly formed cavity, while still allowing moisture to pass through.  The combination of drainage and ventilation eliminates the threat of toxic mold.

MORTAIRVENT® DEBUTS ON EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION

Recently Advanced Building Products was approached by one of its leading distributors in the Midwest to donate materials for a new home being built by TJB Homes.  The 6,000 square foot home was being constructed for the Swenson-Lee family in Minnesota and would be featured on the hit television show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's 100th episode.  Advanced was honored to be able to assist a family in crisis and we jumped at the opportunity.  Advanced donated the Mortairvent Rainscreen, which was used behind the manufactured stone portion of the house.

ADVANCED BUILDING PRODUCTS BREAKS GROUND, AGAIN!

It seems like just yesterday Advanced Building Products, Inc. broke ground to build our new state of the art manufacturing facility.  Six years have since passed and as of April 23, 2007 construction has once again begun on a major addition to our existing manufacturing facility in Sanford, ME.  We expect our latest addition to be completed within the next couple of months.  This addition will house the latest technology in manfufacturing equipment for completely new construction products that will be introduced to the industry we serve at a future date.  Stay tuned...

 

ADVANCED BUILDING PRODUCTS FORMS NEW ALLIANCE

Advanced Building Products has partnered with Benjamin Obdyke, Inc. of Horsham, PA to introduce a new product line to the residential community. 

Richard Lolley, President and CEO of Advanced, commented on the alliance by saying, "Our marketing philosophy and willingness to serve our industry with innovative products directly aligns with Benjamin Obdyke.  We are happy to join forces in this worthwhile endeavor."

Advanced and Obdyke have codesigned Mortairvent®, which is a mortar deflection and ventilation mat used behind manufactured stone, stucco, EIFS and brick wall systems.  Benjamin Obdyke's knowledge of rainscreen and thermal moisture management couple with Advanced Building Products' expertise in the masonry markets offers added opportunities for new technologies.

Advanced Building Products is proud to introduce two new PVC deck flashings.  Ledger-Flash and Dual-Flash are completely UV resistant to insure long lasting moisture protection.

 

Ledger-Flash is a rigid, pre-formed PVC sheet with pre-punched holes for easier installation.  Available in two colors, white or sandstone.  Please specify color when ordering.

 

Dual-Flash is a flexible PVC membrane installed over the ledger board, protecting the joist hangers from contact with treated lumber.  Dual-Flash is the first "reversible" deck flashing.  White on one side and sandstone on the other gives homeowners the flexibility of two color choices in one product.

 

Both Ledger-Flash and Dual-Flash should be fastened to the exterior sheathing using 304 stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners.
